District Alcohol Strategy

The New Plymouth District Alcohol Strategy describes a collective vision for the place of alcohol within New Plymouth. It aims to minimise the impact of alcohol related harm for individuals, families and communities within the district and promote safer alcohol-related environments.

The New Plymouth District Alcohol Strategy defines the responsibilities of the New Plymouth District Council and its partners in reducing the burden of alcohol related harm in the district. It also intends to support the development of a council-led liquor licensing policy that will set parameters to guide liquor licensing for New Plymouth District Council.

The strategy also includes a discussion of the evidence relating to the burden of alcohol related harm experienced by residents within New Plymouth district and community responses to reducing this burden.

The Strategy will be implemented over the period 2009-2014 and regular monitoring will assess progress towards achieving the key aims, objectives and actions identified in the Strategy.
