Professional Training for Licensed Premises

Professional training that aims to improve the skills of licensed premises staff in order to reduce the incidence of alcohol related harm in licensed premises.

 

Licensed premises, as suppliers of alcohol and providers of a venue for consumption of alcohol, have a crucial role to play in terms of reducing alcohol related harm.  Professional training for licensed premises focuses on the key role of staff who work in licensed premises in ensuring that they are behave as a responsible host.  The training is aimed at door staff, managers, glassies as well as bar staff who can all be the first point of contact in a licensed premise. 

The training develops skills such as verbal and non-verbal communication and assertive behaviour, to de-escalate conflict or minimise the risk of potential conflict and/or physical harm. 

 

The training, which is offered annually, consists of an intensive three session workshop that covers topics such as:

  • Role and duties of a door person/security
  • Intoxication
  • Underage drinking
  • Intoxication
  • Body language
  • Removing a disruptive group
  • Force management
