CCTV Cameras
CCTV Cameras
In conjunction with Police Council operate a CCTV (closed circuit TV)
camera system focused on the Central Business District. Police support this technology through
operators who monitor cameras at peak times. This system is continually reviewed with regards to camera
location and emerging crime trends through the Police Liaison Working Party.
CCTV cameras are often used to support other crime prevention projects. One such example is the Mellow Yellow project recently introduced to improve communication between licenced premises and the police about potentially difficult patrons during the evenings. Where incidents are reported to police, the CCTV cameras are directed to the incident to enable evidential information to be collected for later use by police.
