Profile of Taranaki Safe Families Trust member: Family Court

The Family Court deals with all Protection Orders under the Domestic Violence Act.

Provides programmes for applicants, respondents and children.

Counselling available for all families whether together or separated, free of charge upon application.

All matters dealing with the welfare of people is undertaken by the Family Court.

The Family Court Co-ordinator is available to speak to at all courts, also for the purpose of Public Education as a guest speaker at meetings or gatherings.

  • Paternity
  • Relationship Property Act 1976
  • Rules 2001 - Expanded to include de facto property
  • Protection of Personal and Property Rights Act 1988
  • Appointment of Welfare Guardians for people over 20 years old not able to care adequately for themselves.
  • Appointment of Property Managers
  • Children Young Persons and Their Families Act 1989
  • Care and Protection of children
  • Child Support bill 1991
  • Mental Heath Act 1992
  • Domestic Violence Act 1995
  • Protection Orders
  • Provision of education Programmes for the Applicant and Children that have protection orders in their favour.
  • Provision of Stopping Violence Programmes for people who have protection orders out against them.
  • Testamentary Promises Act.
  • Contesting of Wills
  • Marriages and Dissolution of marriages (counselling available for all couples with relationship issues)
