Taranaki Families take up the Challenge
Over 1000 people turned out for a hugely successful Family Challenge Fun Day organised by Taranaki Safe Families Collaborative on Sunday 27th November.
The event, held at Yarrows Stadium, offered an afternoon full of fun-packed activities designed to promote healthy family relationships through a series of challenge-style events. Activities included a family treasure hunt, obstacle course, team games, bouncy castles and face painting.
Thanks to sponsorship from a wide range of local companies and organisations, those who attended the event were treated to a free sausage sizzle, free iceblocks, spot prizes and giveaways. The activities were also free...meaning that parents who attended the event could leave their wallet behind!
The event attracted families with children of all ages, including teenagers who made good use of the New Plymouth Police obstacle course challenge and sports activities.
Taranaki Safer Families Collaborative organisers were delighted with the event and its success in attracting such a huge number of local families. The event is one of two Family Challenge events held each year (an annual Family Sand Challenge day is held in April at Ngamotu Beach).
