Family Fun Days

These events, which are organised by the Taranaki Safe Families Collaborative, aim to celebrating positive healthy family interactions in a fun and family-friendly environment. Examples of such events include an annual 'Family Sand Challenge' at Ngamotu beach (pictured below) which includes a family sand castle competition, big dig and spot prizes with free sausage sizzle. Another similar event was a recent 'Summer Family Fun Day' on the Sport Taranaki field at Yarrows Stadium. Families were treated to fun family games, bouncy castle, sausage sizzle, treasure hunts, face painting, tug or war...as well as cooling down under the spray of a fire truck water hose! 

The events are popular with hundreds of people attending. Entry is free, and there is no charge for food or activities. The variety of fun activities available, and the affordability of this family event, are key to its success.
