HSE Centre Home Safety Module

A practical home safety demonstration/training area based within the Taranaki HSE Centre.

The Home Safety Module is a specially converted area within the Taranaki HSE Centre, a workplace health and safety training centre on Constance Street, New Plymouth. The Module contains a kitchen, bathroom, bedroom and living area, complete with furniture and equipment, that can be used for training purposes (e.g. hazard identification, fire safety demonstrations etc.).

The Home Safety Module (pictured below) has been used in a number of practical safety activities held within the centre including the annual Gateway Students Safety Challenge and the Taranaki Business House Safety Challenge. Activities have included home safety scenarios such as identifying falls hazards, dealing with electrical hazards and extinguishing kitchen fires. The home safety area can be used by anyone who is using the centre for training or other activities.
