Link Learn to Swim in Taranaki
Quality Swim School (QSS) initiative has been developed by Swimming New Zealand in partnership with Swimming Coaches and Teachers of New Zealand Inc. Quality swim schools conform to a nationally recognised standard, providing excellent teaching practices in a safe environment. There are currently 5 Quality Swim Schools operating in Taranaki.

Link Swimming Taranaki
Swimming Taranaki operates to promote, foster and encourage swimming and associated aquatic sports and disciplines within Taranaki, including water safety, recreation, education and competition for all. They provide assistance to local clubs, across Taranaki, with the administration and financial management of the sport of swimming in Taranaki as well as regulating competitive swimming within the region.

Coastguard looks out for the safety of people who enjoy harbours, gulf, beaches, and coastline. In addition to patrol and Search and Rescue, they provide a variety of information and educational services designed to maximise safe enjoyment of the water.

Link to WaterWeb, the website for Water Safety New Zealand. WaterWeb has been developed to help provide the essential information all New Zealanders need to know for an enjoyable and safe time on the water. WaterWeb is a resource for all New Zealand communities providing statistical information, the latest news plus access to free educational programmes and resources. There are also links to Water Safety New Zealand’s 36 member organisations and other related sites.

Maritime New Zealand’s main focus is to ensure that the maritime environment is safe, secure and clean for all its users and that it stays that way well into the future. They provide a range of maritime related information and fact sheets which can be downloaded from their website.
Link National Drowning Prevention Strategy
The Drowning Prevention Strategy’s main focuses are on reducing death and injury due to drowning, and ensuring people continue to safely enjoy New Zealand’s unique water environments. ACC is the lead government agency of the Strategy, and serves as the link between Government, the water safety sector, the Minister for ACC and the New Zealand Injury Prevention Strategy (NZIPS) Secretariat.
Link Sport Taranaki (Nga Pepe Wai)
Sport Taranaki run the Nga Pepe Wai (Learn to Swim) water baby programme designed for parents, caregivers and their babies. Kohanga reo throughout the region attend this programme which is run all year at both North and South Taranaki swimming facilities. The programme provides fun activities and promotes water safety.
