Waking up to Driver Fatigue
A Driver Reviver stop held in Mokau during April reached over 700 drivers with information about the effects of driver fatigue.
Roadsafe Taranaki, ACC, Police, St John Ambulance and parents from the local Kindergarten took to the street in Mokau on 26th April to raise awareness of driver fatigue. 777 drivers were stopped and provided with information about fatigue and a drink voucher for the local cafe. A survey carried out on the day showed 22% of drivers think it’s okay to drive for over 2-3 hours without a break, a slight decrease on last years' figure of 24%.
Drivers were provided with an ACC Driver Fatigue information pack, activity sheets for children, a water bottle and a local map highlighting road hazards along the main state highways.
